Emo Friends/Honey AA Single Out 20th Nov Via Beech Coma.
Leeds’ Bruising have a fairly fascinating and ramshackle origin story. They first met when Naomi Baguley spied Be Lewis wearing a Perfect Pussy t-shirt in a Leeds nightclub. They began trading song ideas via iPhone voice memos. Their fiest demos, recorded in Ben’s bedroom (natch), led to a sold-out debut show at Leeds’ Oporto. Bruising led house parties ensued, including the likes of Waxahatchee, Twin Peaks, and Trust Fund. Word filtered out and praise descended from the unlikely source of Andrew W.K. and, in wonderful symmetry, Meredith Graves of Perfect Pussy.
After contributing to compilations by Brighton based boutique label Beech Coma and Bristol/London based odd format loving label Art is Hard Records, Bruising are ready to launch their debut single a proper. It will be a AA single with new track ‘Emo Friends’ complementing a new recording of demo track ‘Honey’. Obviously, the single was recorded with Hookworms’ MJ at his Suburban Home Studios in Leeds.
The single is the first installment of a new bi-monthly subscription series from the label, part-funded by Arts Council England. Pre-order the single and/or sign up to the Beech Coma Singles Club.
