Deptford Goth Announces Details Of Second Album “Songs”

The record follows Deptford Goth’s, aka Daniel Woolhouse’s,  warmly received debut album Life After Defo (2012) and will be released on November 3rd via 37 Adventures. Stream the first single from the record, “The Lovers”, above.

Apparently, his latest effort begins to mine singer songwriter territory in addition to the familiar synth pop and R ‘n’ B vibes. Woolhouse says, “It wasn’t a conscious decision, but I’ve become more accepting of my voice, so it’s more prominent now, which led to structuring the songs in a more classic way. I also wanted people to hear the lyrics. It’s a process of being more upfront and honest.”

The new album also suggests at a hint of happiness for Woolhouse. “Life After Defo had bits of hope hidden inside but this one’s definitely more joyous,” Daniel agrees. “Instead of closing down I’m opening up and feeling more at peace with myself about certain things.”

The album artwork, created by Jordan Kasey who handled the artwork for Life After Defo, is intrinsic to the message of the record. “I wanted a continuation. I wanted something figurative, but that resembled a landscape too. It represents to me a connection between the physical self and it’s surroundings, which is one of the album’s themes.”
