Ghosts of Dead Airplanes – ‘Scope’ | Overblown Video Premiere

So it’s been a tumultuous time for Birmingham punks Ghosts of Dead Airplanes. They’ve lost a band member, and been a little quiet for a while. However, this period of silence has allowed them to bugger off for a while, hone their style, and come back with a fuzzy, angular, and delightfully confrontational slice of old fashioned punk.

‘Scope’ is a track that aims to attack traditional male gender roles. This is reflected in the music video, which sees the band don dresses, and make-up. The sections in which the band members wear traditionally male clothes are in black and white, while the sections where they wear traditionally female clothes are in colour. A suggestion of the restrictiveness of male stereotypes perhaps?

They support Post War Glamour Girls at the Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham on Friday 19 May before reconvening with desperate Journalist for the following dates. Don’t bloody miss them.

16 June – Bishops Stortford – The Long Room
24 June – Leicester – The Soundhouse
