Jeff Lownsbury’s self titled debut is out 24th November via Muscle Beach Records.
Fun fact. Traditionally, the Lownsbury family are wharf builders, railroad engineers, rail road conductors, and bookkeepers. Tucson, Arizona native Jeff Lownsbury has branched out a bit into painting and writing alternative country/rock songs with a touch of jazz. After playing and recording with a plethora of bands including The Night Collectors, Katterwaul, and Haboob, he’s decided to venture out under his own name. Today, we’re premiering his fun and eclectic self titled debut LP, which will be available digitally and on a lovely yellow cassette from 24th November via Muscle Beach Records.
Combining straight up lo-fi rockier material like LP opener ‘Don’t Wanna Go’ with the more adventurous and exploratory instrumental and album centre piece ‘Maain St’, the record is a trippy and at times nearly free form blast of guitar based alt country flecked with saxophone and Fender Rhodes. Displaying a talent for melody and experimentation, the record moves seamlessly from the playful to the intense with aplomb. Which sounds just a bout perfect to us.
