Debut EP Prefaces Out Now.
Leeds, England is hardly known for its delicate touch. Sporting heroes include Billy Bremner and Johnny Giles, who are not men one would expect to enjoy a delicate piano and mournful melody. Regardless, Leeds is home to Simeon Walker who specialises in that very thing. Following in the wake of the likes of Olafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm, his piano led neo-classical is endearingly lo-fi, melancholic, and warm. As you listen to his latest track ‘Turn’, you can clearly hear the pedals and the wooden frame of the piano creak and moan.
The track is his first release since Prefaces, the debut EP Walker released earlier this year. It shows a growing confidence in the pianist’s work. It is a confidence that hopefully allows him to emulate and build on those that have preceded him.
