New Band Of The Day #104: Horace Bones

horace bones

‘The Rats’ is out now via Thirds Music.

Who: Oisin Kelly, Ryan Caswell, Danny Cockburn (hehe ‘cock burn’), and Christian Fish (related to serial killer Albert Fish?).

What: Horror punk (FFO: FFO: The Birthday Party, The Drones, and The Cramps.).

Where: Australia.

Why: This new track from Australian horror punks Horace Bones is as catchy as the plague. I recently learned that the plague is still going and is most endemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Nevermind that though. ‘The Rats’ is a languid but tense exploration of taut punk that veers from anxiety to cacophony at the drop of a hat. All the while frantic and frenzied vocals dominate. For me, the song must be about delirium tremens with references to delusions and rats scratching. But I could be wrong. It has happened before. Have a listen and decide for yourself.
