Skeleton Tree Out Sep 9 on Vinyl, CD, and All Digital Formats.
Following what many considered a return to form, 2013’s Push The Sky Away, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have announced plans for their sixteenth studio album. The record is called Skeleton Tree and was recorded in late 2014 and autumn 2015 in Brighton and France respectively, before being mixed in London in January 2016.
The songs from the album will be heard for the first time in the film Once More With Feeling, directed by Andrew Dominik. That film will screen in over 650 cinemas across the world on September 8 2016, a day before the album’s release. Originally a performance based concept, the film morphed into something much more significant as Dominick explored the tragic background of the writing and recording of the album. Interviews and footage shot by Dominick will be interwoven with performance footage of the Seeds and accompanied by Nick Cave’s improvised narration and ruminations.
Filmed in both black and white and colour, the result promises to be stark, fragile and raw. A true testament to an artist attempting to find his way through darkness.
