Rage Against The Machine & Public Enemy Launch Countdown Website

Countdown Set To Finish On 1 June.

What could this all be about? It seems that Rage Against The Machine and Public Enemy have launched some kind of countdown website at prophetsofrage.com. The countdown will expire on June 1.

FYI, “Clear the way for the prophets of rage” is a lyric from the Public Enemy Song ‘Prophets of Rage’ from Public Enemy’s 1988 album It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back. The website also includes the hash tag #takethepowerback, which is a RATM song from their self titled 1992 debut album.

You can sign up to a mailing list on the website to keep up to date on developments. There’s also got a Facebook page where Prophets of Rage is listed as a band.

Could this be some kind of collaboration between RATM and Public Enemy? Bear in mind that in 1998 Chuck D told MTV that RATM would be the only choice for a Public Enemy collaboration. In fairness, that’s a while ago, but Chuck D strikes us as a fellow who sticks to his guns!

Check out Chuck and RATM covering the Public Enemy track ‘Black Steel In The Hour of Chaos’ above in 1996.
