Agnes Obel Shares ‘Golden Green’, UK Tour Dates

New Album Citizen of Glass  Out 21st October Via Play It Again Sam.

Danish singer songwriter Agnes Obel has shared another new track from her upcoming third album Citizen of Glass. The song, called ‘Golden Green’, which features vocals, vibraphone, piano and percussion marks a slight departure from Obel’s previous work. However, the track, while being more focused on rhythm than the first single from the album ‘Familiar‘, still retains Obel’s off kilter chord changes and unique sense of melody. Cinematic and engrossing, the track is both haunting and soothing in equal measure.

‘Golden Green’ is about “how the mind can develop stories and change reality whilst under the influence of envy,” says Obel. “In a sense it is a negative longing with a creative potential for good and/or bad – novels are written in the mind from this perspective. The song is inspired by the book ‘Envy’ from 1927 by the novelist Yuri Olesha.”
