Alt-folk: New track from Saintseneca has all the 90’s magic

New album Pillar of Na out now via -Anti.

‘Ladder to the Sun’, the latest track from Columbus, Ohio punk/alt-folk outfit Saintseneca, is a gem. Fully possessed with the spirit of 90’s alt folk bands like Neutral Milk Hotel or Toad the Wet Sprocket, the jam is a blissful and yet ragged flounce through warm melodies and acoustic strums.

The goal for Saintseneca’s new record Pillar of Na, their fourth, was to break new ground. “I wanted to use the idiom of folk-rock, or whatever you want to call it, and to try to do something that had never been done before,” singer Zac Little explains. “I told Mike Mogis I wanted Violent Femmes meets the new Blade Runner soundtrack. I’m looking for the intersection between Kendrick Lamar and The Fairport Convention.”
