Stevenage punks Bad Breeding have announced that their new single “Chains” will be released on November 24 as a limited edition 7” vinyl (x200) and free download via soundcloud. The b-side will be a cover of Wire’s track “Two People In A Room”, taken from their 1979 album 154.
The track itself is a riotous plundering track that descends into cacophonous anarchy before pulling itself back together again. Oddly, the bit of the song that nearly collapses in on itself reminds of the end of an old Green Jelly track called “Three Little Pigs”. Regardless, the track is an unrelenting burst of punk energy in the vein of METZ and/or Iceage.
The band will be selling the vinyl via eBay and Chinese/Asian equivalent selling platform Alibaba.
Regarding the decision to utilise these outlets to distribute the physical single, the band explain: “We’d had offers from labels to put the single out, but the choices available confined the physical records to particular regions and culturally-closed circles. The decision to self-release was hardly a gaudy slight on traditional release methods. For us, it was just important to go beyond the limited distribution frameworks made available for smaller releases.”
