Cassia – ‘Weekender’ | Overblown Track Premiere

‘Weekender’ is out through Scruff of the Neck on March 3rd 2017.

Ever wondered what the Strokes would sound like if Julian Casablancas wasn’t such a misery guts (Disclaimer, I love the Strokes)? Well, wonder no longer! The latest single from Macclesfield’s Cassia, ‘Weekender’, is a sun drenched, laid back ode to the weekend that calls to mind the garage rock revival of the rather famous New York quintet except a lot more ‘sunny’. Having said this, it is not a typical ode. Through the energy and major chords the track seems to celebrate the wonders of the weekend, however, the lyrics explore the narrator’s feelings of being strung along by the object of his affections. Something we can all relate to to be fair. So perhaps all is not as ‘sunny’ as it first appears.

Even though Cassia have not been together for a long time, it has been rather a good time. They’re shared the stage with a load of excellent up and coming acts like Lisbon and Girl Friend, while appearing at Brownstock, Folk On the Lawn, as well as Y-Not Festival for two years running. Expect more gigs, more music, and more Cassia in 2017.
