Video Released As Part Of Mysterious Global Teaser Campaign.
‘Nobody Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party’ is the new single from Courtney Barnett’s absolutely awesome debut album Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, which was released earlier this year to the clamouring of adulation across the globe. The single is out September 7th via House Anxiety/Marathon Artists.
The video was recorded just 48 hours ago during a guerrilla performance in London. Jon White shot the band playing outside Camden Town station in the heart of the city, and the video sees Courtney and the CB3 bring the city to a standstill as they blast through the track underneath a billboard sporting the songs slightly humourous title.
The release follows months of teasing, as a plethora or billboards, murals, and posters have sprung up around the world like the one in the video, all declaring the same statement, in Courtney’s idiosyncratic handwriting. The sightings have been catelogued on Courtney’s newly redesigned website, giving fans a sight of what’s going on on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
A minute long video also preceeded the campaign. The video, which was directed by Gabriel Gomez and called ‘Courtney Stays Home’, features a snoozing Courtney slamming the snooze button on her alarm clock as it wakes her up with her own song. Because she wants to stay home, a play on the lyrics in the track: “I wanna go out but I wanna stay home.” Geddit?
