Fever the Ghost, who remind me of a weirder Foster the People, have shared a rather unnerving video for their latest single “Source” which will feature on their debut EP Crab In Honey, out now via Heavenly Recordings. The psychedelic clip, directed by Australian art/animator Felix Colgrave, is an unnatural visual combination of Japanese anime pioneer Hayao Miyazaki, neo retro 2D platformer graphics and a mix of the Beatles’ animated classic Yellow Submarine. Weird doesn’t quite cover the eyeball assault of this most unusual of music videos.
Heavenly Records spied the band during their lauded performance at this years SXSW Festival, and quickly snapped them onto their eclectic roster. The band, led by lead-singer Casper Indrizzo, recently toured the states with the Flaming Lips and will feature alongside Dinosaur Jr’s J. Mascis and My Morning Jacket on the track “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” on Wayne Coyne’s upcoming Beatles tribute album With A Little Help From My Fwends. With their love of psychedelia, The Flaming Lips frontman could not a picked a more suitable backing band for his highly anticipated project.
It’s also worth noting that Fever the Ghost’s synth player is named Bornabin. Sounds made up to me.
The EP was produced and recorded by the band and Victor Indrizzo and is available as a limited edition coloured vinyl 12”, which also comes with a download code for 8-bit versions of the 5 tracks.
Having recently been touring the US with label mates Temples, Fever The Ghost are due to play the forthcoming European dates:
28th London White Heat at Madam JoJos
29th London The Social
30th Brighton Bleach
31st Barcelona Primavera
1st Amsterdam London Calling.
