At the end of April, Bristol/London bloody awesome indie label Art Is Hard Records will release their second Famiy Portrait compilation album. Back in 2012, the first iteration of this release featured the likes of Joanna Gruesome, Playlounge, Keel Her, and Gum. This one, creatively titled Family Portrait pt. II, will feature music from self proclaimed “butt punx” Bruising, shoegaze/dreampop group Living Hour, Brighton post-punks Abattoir Blues, and surf fuzz quartet Fruit Bomb.
Following the release of Living Hour’s ‘Steady Glazed Eyes’ and Abattoir Blues’ ‘Awake’, Art Is Hard have shared another cut to be released from the compilation. Fruit Bomb’s ‘Normcore Girlfriend’ is a gleeful thrash through two and half minutes of unrequited love. Fuzzed up guitars rage, and vaguely in tune vocals burst all over this piece of surf pop updated for the post-punk landscape.
