Girlpool Share Stop Motion Video For ‘Magnifying Glass’

Post-Punk Duo’s Debut Album Before The World Was Big  Out Now Via Wichita Recordings

Earlier this month Philidelphia based charming best friends Girlpool released what is likely going to be one of the very best albums of the year, Before The World Was Big. Equally endearing, melancholic, and heart warming the set is a brief and lo-fi coming of age story told through the eyes of two best friends tackling life head on and together.

They’ve also shown quite a penchant for creating wonderful music videos. ‘Chinatown’ sees the duo wandering the streets to the lightly strummed ode, while the video for title track ‘Before The World Was Big’ shows them having a good old fashioned time on Coney Island. Their latest video is for ‘Magnifying Glass’. At forty seconds, the track is the briefest on a brief album, but that’s not to say the track is superfluous. It includes the duo’s typically nostalgic lyrics, and their musical sense of innocence, naivety, and wonder: “And all those passing feelings / They never told me what they meant / My eyes are swollen full of / People I’ve met.”

“We are honored to have worked with our inspiring and dear friend Craig Scheihing on a video that we feel encapsulates our song,” the duo told FADER in an email. “Thanks to all the wonderful people who took part in this video. Creating with people is thrilling and special.”

Girlpool’s full-length debut is out now on Wichita Recordings.
