Honeycub’s new single ‘Nothing Changes’ is out now.
Who: Ollie Wilson (vocals/guitars), Eddie Dawson (bass), and Charlie Lord (drums).
What: Grunge/alt-rock.
Where: Leeds, UK.
Check out previous ‘New Band of the Day’ posts.
Why: Leeds trio Honeycub call themselves nu-grunge. That is certainly an apt description. Big chunky power chord riffs, earnestness, and a bratty attitude make up the sound on their new single ‘Nothing Changes’. It is big, confident and damn catchy. In modern terms, they bear a certain resemblance to fellow Leeds band Dinosaur Pile-Up and Irish outfit Fangclub (who they’ve supported). There’s even a bit of a Deftones riff thrown in there in the last minute.
