So you thought Idlewild had been locked away painstakingly for a couple of years agonising over every last note on their forthcoming comeback album Everything Ever Written. We now have our doubts and reckon they knocked the record together across a few hungover afternoons and spent the rest of their time camped in a cosy Tobermory boozer strategising about the really important stuff. Alcohol. Credit to them though, unlike most bright ideas born in the pub it seems Idlewild have seen theirs through to fruition.
‘Scottish Fiction IPA’ is their very own craft beer brewed in association with Edinburgh based Barney’s Brewers. This will be served in 330ml bottles and are a respectable 4.8% ABV. There will be 1250 of them made and each bottle will come with a download code for an acoustic version of ‘A Film for the Future’. Nice.
To prove they like to party the band have also announced a launch event for this appealing alcoholic beverage. This will take place at Summerhall in Edinburgh on Friday 6th Feb (just happens to be my birthday) and you’ll be able to buy the beer there. Of course they haven’t forgot their sideline as a top Scottish rock band so there will also be an exclusive playback of the new album on the night followed by a DJ set by the band.
So what will fans do? Buy two, drink one and keep the other? Whatever you do, please drink responsibly.
