Indie Folk: Owen Shares ‘I Should’ve Known’ Video

Owen’s new album The Avalanche is out now via Big Scary Monsters. UK/EU tour dates listed below.

Owen, the indie folk project Mike Kinsella of American Football fame, has shared a poignant video for ‘I Should’ve Known’. The video tells the story of the end of a relationship through the journey of a pair of shoes of all things.

The video was directed by Chris Strong. “The video is about a relationship dissolving,” he says. “(The shoes) are meant to represent the memory and spirit of that former life.”

“I’m always so excited to work with Chris Strong,” says Kinsella, “because I feel like he effortlessly succeeds at visually accomplishing what I’m always trying so hard to accomplish with my music. Whatever the tone – whether it be poignant, or irreverent, or earnest, or self-reflexive – it’s always draped in beauty. It’s undeniably aesthetically pleasing.”
