Indietracks runs from 28-30 JULY 2017 at Midland Railway, Butterley, Derbyshire, UK.
Without spoiling the surprise of this Indietracks interview it appears Frankie Cosmos from New York City have never had the pleasure of visiting Derbyshire before. I’m loathe to promise too much but I reckon they’ll feel right at home at Indietracks. The similarities are endless, the transport system in particular. Taking the MTA from Union Square to Bedford St to go record shopping in Rough Trade or Captured Tracks is pretty much the same as getting the GVLR from Butterley to Swanwick Junction to go record shopping in the Indietracks Merch tent. In fact, after a few orange ciders from the engine shed you could easily mistake Swanwick Junction Station for Penn Station. Here’s Greta Kline to tell us what she’s looking forward to:
Overblown: It’s your first time at Indietracks. How excited are you to be playing and what have you heard about the festival?
Greta: I haven’t heard much about it, but very excited to check it out! It is our first time 🙂
O: At Overblown we love a cover version. If you had to play a cover of another artist from this year’s bill which band and song would it be? (And will you consider actually doing it?)
Greta: Hmmm we hardly ever learn covers! But if we were to do this, maybe ‘Are You With Me Now?’ by Cate Le Bon.
O: Similarly, if you were to choose a song of your own to be covered by another band on the bill which song and band would it be?
Greta: ‘Fool’ covered by Martha!
O: There’s always a great indie disco to be had after the bands finish playing. What song would you request and are we likely to find you on the dancefloor?
Greta: We love Bee Gees! It would be extremely rare of me to dance. I actually hate dancing haha! But if ‘Disciples’ by Tame Impala comes on, then I go wild.
O: Bum Notes Karaoke with Ruby Walters is a great night and will be at Indietracks for the first time this year. What’s your go-to karaoke song and can we expect to see you singing it?
Greta: ‘Listen’ by Beyonce would be mine. And yes we will definitely be there if we can.
With so many great bands playing tell our readers why they should choose to come and see your set.
Greta: It’s our first time playing in Derbyshire! If you come see us, then we will be happy, and we will go back to New York and tell all our friends how great Derbyshire is and send more cool bands your way 😉
Frankie Cosmos play Indietracks Festival on Saturday 29th July. We’ll see you all there.
