Indietracks runs from 28-30 JULY 2017 at Midland Railway, Butterley, Derbyshire, UK.
‘THIS IS A NO MACHISMO ZONE, IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT FUCK OFF’ says the blurb on Skinny Girl Diet‘s Soundcloud page. They should fit in very nicely in their first visit to Indietracks then where the most macho act I’ve ever seen was the guy sitting on the pew in front of me in the church aggressively fanning his girlfriend with a newspaper to cool her down when we were waiting for Flemmings to come on. Someone has to bring the noise and the anger and there’s nobody better to do so than Ursula and Delilah, the sisters who make up Skinny Girl Diet. That’s them in the pic above, that’s what it looks like inside their two-person tent. Amazing.
Overblown: It’s your first time at Indietracks. How excited are you to be playing and what have you heard about the festival?
Ursula: we’re very excited and can’t wait to play as we’ve also never been to Indietracks or Derby before.
O: At Overblown we love a cover version. If you had to play a cover of another artist from this year’s bill which band and song would it be? (And will you consider actually doing it?)
Ursula: definitely one of Shopping’s bangers, probably ‘Long Way Home’ I don’t think I’d do a good enough cover so think I’d learn the dance routine from their music video instead.
O: Similarly, if you were to choose a song of your own to be covered by another band on the bill which song and band would it be?
Delilah: yeah, I’d love to see Shopping cover one of ours.
O: There’s always a great indie disco to be had after the bands finish playing. What song would you request and are we likely to find you on the dancefloor?
Ursula: probably David Bowie’s John I’m only dancing.
Delilah: Depends on my mood, from Link Ray to Beyonce.
O: Bum Notes Karaoke with Ruby Walters is a great night and will be at Indietracks for the first time this year. What’s your go-to karaoke song and can we expect to see you singing it?
Delilah: Valerie by Amy Winehouse or Joan Jett
Ursula: Fade into you – Mazzy Star after an emotional pint.
O: With so many great bands playing tell our readers why they should choose to come and see your set.
Ursula: It’s not a choice. I got eyes everywhere, if you don’t come I know people that will track you down and find you.
Skinny Girl Diet play Indietracks Festival on Sunday 30th July. We’ll see you all there.
