J. Bernardt – ‘Calm Down’ | Overblown Track Premiere

j. bernardt

Debut album out via Play It Again Sam in 2017.

The amount of output pouring out of Belgian indie rock band Balthazar is simply astounding to be honest. While vocalist/guitarist Maarten Devoldere is busy working on his electro post punk outfit Warhaus, fellow vocalist/guitarist Jinte Deprez is heading in an entirely different direction with his new solo guise J. Bernardt.

Drawing on the likes of Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker) and James Blake, ‘Calm Down’ is a soulful and moody R&B offering that showcases Deprez’s lethargic and yet emotive vocals. Offered new freedom by heading out to stand on his own two feet, the project evolved from Deprez experimenting on a synth to an entire collection of tracks that will comprise his debut solo album which is coming next year.

J. Bernardt will make his UK live debut tomorrow, 15th November at The Lexington as part of [PIAS] Nites.
