First Single From Upcoming EP.

Dublin singer songwriter, and member of THUMPER, Joey Gavin has shared the first track to be taken from his upcoming second EP. Titled ‘Run’, the track marks a departure from his earlier more subdued material on debut EP Circles and sees him head into a more upbeat art pop direction. The song sports an effortlessly catchy melody, bouncing bass, and some Graham Coxon-esque weirdness in places. Bags of fun.

The b-side to the single is called ‘The Hunt’ and sticks closer to the somber tone of Gavin’s previous work. Over the course of five minutes the track explores a more restrained a pensive approach with Gavin intoning, “Can’t you see there’s no one I can tell / Nobody knows you well.” With its under water guitars, the song suggests what would happen if a dream pop band went acoustic. Lovely.
