Fan-boys Explode With Glee
Kim Deal, who has been involved with some of the greatest indie rock albums of all time with Pixies and The Breeders, chats with Courtney Barnett, who has released one of the most impressive indie rock albums in years in the form of this year’s Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, on the latest The Talkhouse Music Podcast. The duo have a gay old time, drawing on topics as diverse as playing guitar upside down, and what it is like to be 27. Listen above.
The Talkhouse is a website which solicits artists to write about the latest music and film releases in a smart and distinguished manner. Here’s the kicker: the artist who is being written about is encouraged to respond. The website was set up by accomplished music journalist Michael Azerrad, who was involved in the writing of two of my absolute favourite books about music: Our Band Could Be Your Life: Scenes From The American Underground , 1981-1991, and See A Little Light, the autobiography of erstwhile Husker Du front-man, Bob Mould.
