Debut Self Titled EP Released On July 6th.
Alternative/shoe-gaze quartet Maff hail from Santiago, Chile and recently released their pretty damn impressive self titled debut EP. You can get your hands on it via Bandcamp. Now they’ve decided to share the video for EP track ‘Act 1’, which was directed by Tim Busko, a film maker from Pennsylvania. Overblown is pretty bloody privileged to be premiering the video for this thunderous, euphoric and yet dream-like instrumental which is a glorious aural assault perfectly complemented by this reverie of a music video. Enjoy. Check out the video above.
“Some of the footage for “Act 1” was cannibalized from my experimental film “Space Thing” (2004); the remainder was pulled from aborted projects and experiments,” Tim Busko says. “While editing, it reminded me of the fragmented nature of dreams and old memories; but that was merely an after thought. I only wanted to create a palpable mood and develop a sense of rhythm through the editing. I never intended any symbolism in the use and juxtaposition of the imagery – I cringe at the thought. I’d also hoped, through the inclusion of degraded imagery, to avoid the sense of creeping sterility that often infests even the most low budget digital filmmaking efforts. Beyond that, I hope it entertains!”
