Neatly coinciding with his appearance at Iceland’s Airwaves Festival here’s an Overblown premiere of Mark W. Georgsson‘s new single ‘Oh My Dear Friend’ which is being released digitally through Last Night From Glasgow.
‘Oh My Dear Friend’ is the follow up to Mark’s debut single ‘Ballad of a Nearly Man’ which was the first release on LNFG earlier in 2016. That song was a beautifuly delicate ballad with such a strong sense of place you could taste the salt from the Atlantic on your lips. This time around the accelerator is firmly stamped on and the result is a strongly country-tinged rock n’ roll underpinned by a Dylan-esque hammond and featuring glorious harmonies.
Both songs are taken from Mark’s forthcoming debut album Faces and Places; recorded between Edinburgh, Mull and Reykjavik with a revolving door of friends and musicians, including Arnar Guðjónsson from the cult Icelandic band Leaves and Rod Jones from Idlewild on production duties.
The result is a mix of Country/Alternative Folk/Americana and Celtic ballads with a Nordic vibe that will be released via Last Night From Glasgow on limited edition 12-inch vinyl and download in January.
‘Oh My Dear Friend’ is out via iTunes and other digital outlets on Friday 4th November.
