New album Folklore out June 2nd via Gare Du Nord Records.
On new album Folklore, Matthew Edwards & the Unfortunates have crafted a fascinating document. A kind of baroque indie rock vibe permeates the effort, with cellos, theremin, harpsichord, farfisa and guitar all combining to share the same sonic environment.
Partnered with this are a world weary melancholia, deftly intelligent lyrics, and flourishes of noise and avant garde twists. “After 20 years living in California I returned to Birmingham and Folklore is the chronicle of that return”, explains Matthew. And a fascinating chronicle it is.
We are delighted to premiere ‘Lazy’, the latest track to be shared from the offering. A mid tempo number replete with chiming organs, a sardonic vocal delivery, and, at times, noisy guitar sections, the song is a swaggering and confident addition to their already impressive repertoire.
