‘Super Transporterreum’ EP Out 25th September Via Memphis Industries

Last time we saw Leeds’ Menace Beach, they were releasing their debut album Ratworld to much critical clamour. Despite that release coming in January of this year, the pop grunge quintet are back with a new EP, creatively titled ‘Super Transporterreum’ (say it a couple of times; it soon trips off the tongue). You know, I really wanted a transporterreum to be a real thing but apparently Menace Beach made it up. The closest is the Transporterraum, which was the name of the studio in which the Strokes recorded the magnificent This Is It. So that’s a pretty cool, if tenuous, link.

The EP was recorded with MJ of Hookworms fame, as was Ratworld, which is pretty cool because, well, MJ is pretty much the Steve Albini of the DIY British punk scene at the moment. The titled track was inspired by Liza’s flu-fever experience while on tour and, according to the band, is, “three bass guitars simultaneously doing a Bryan May riff.”

Menace Beach will head in to the studio to record their second album with upcoming tour dates as follows:
