New Album Hidden Memories out now on Toolong Records.
Monotony. Something that afflicts us all. We’re ornery creatures, and even in this, the most wonderful time to be alive (in the West at least), we get a bit out of sorts. For me, that’s what the latest single for Somehow is all about.
Titled ‘While The Days Go By’, it channels a bass style that is highly reminiscent of Joy Division or The Cure while singer Erwan Pépiot croons over the top in a fashion that is not a million miles removed from Morrissey or Ian Curtis. Having said that, this is not a rip of the dour post punk of the late 70’s and early 80’s. Rather it uses these building blocks to build something regal and grand. Something hopeful even. This is imbued courtesy of the liberal inclusion of a variety of instruments (keyboards, melodica, violin, cello) and the lilting vocals of Aurélie Tremblay.
