Australian post-punk/shoegaze four piece Nite Fields have announced their debut album Depersonalisation, and streamed the first single from the record, “You I Never Knew”. The long player will be available at all good music stores on February 2nd via Felte, and the band will tour extensively throughout January and February to support the release.
Have you ever heard of depersonalisation? Apparently, according to the Boots website, it is a disorder which causes the sufferer to feel detached from their body or feel that their body is unreal. It’s an apt name for an album of post-punk tinged with an ethereal, dream-like quality.
First single “You I Never Knew” could be the soundtrack to an out of body experience. The guitars jangle and echo over a relaxed drumbeat while lead singer Danny Venzin drones sleepily like Thurston Moore in his more withdrawn moments.
