Post Metal: Partholón Share Haunting Track ‘Hunt’, Announce Debut EP

Debut EP Follow Me Through Body Out Soon.

Last week, Overblown went to see Cork post metal quartet Partholón support Mother Mooch in Fred Zeppelins and they were immense. The track they premiered today, ‘Hunt’, was played. It was a definite highlight. A visceral and striking song, its contrasting gentleness and ferocity grabs the listener’s attention immediately. Taking the loudQUIETloud dynamic to the extreme, it combines subdued periods of shouty introspection with cathartic and brutal cycles of vast distortion and critically considered dynamics. Coming off like the bastard child of some bizarre threesome involving Neurosis, Cult of Luna, and Tool, the song is an amazingly accomplished introduction to a band of obvious promise and both songwriting and instrumental skill.

We want more.

Luckily, the track is just a taster from their upcoming EP Follow Me Through Body. Recorded and produced by Shaun Cadogan and Partholón at Last Light Recordings, the release also boasts mastering by Magnus Lindberg from Cult Of Luna. Which is pretty fucking awesome to be fair.
