French post-rock experimentalists Les Raisins de la Colère (The Grapes of Wrath, you uncultured swine) have shared a new track titled ‘Jam’. A track that seems to be equally influenced by Western films and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, it swirls and slithers through a luxurious pace that gently ups the tension until it envelopes the listener in a delicate but powerful embrace.
One of the central instruments utilised by the band is the oud. I’d never heard of it, but it is an Arabic instrument that bears a resemblance to a lute (see picture above). It’s my new favourite instrument as it conjures a mystical atmosphere full of foreboding.
