Second Sleep’s new EP Crows is out on October 8th via Holiday Breath Records.
Portland duo Second Sleep is an engrossing and cathartic proposition. Calling on disparate genres such as post-rock, noise rock, and shoegaze on their new EP Crows, they manage to create an effort that is both beguiling and confrontational. The EP swirls and swims through gritty and raw fuzzed up guitars. While their previous EP, titled RED, was a swaggering stoner metal effort, Crows sees the outfit spread their wings a bit and explore the borders of their sound. We are honoured to premiere the EP below. Have a listen!
“Most of the material from the RED EP was written before Second Sleep existed, they were ideas T.J. and I had as our last band was disintegrating and they became the seeds for Second Sleep, “states guitarist Bruce Reed. “The songs came before the band and they existed a long time before we finally released them. I love those songs, but we’ve had them a long time. Crows is a much more realized expression of who we are now, and where we are going.”
