UK Release Of Ugly Cherries, With Two Extra Tracks, On 7 Oct Via Scary Monsters.
PWR BTTM are a wonderful dichotomy. Their DIY indie/punk approach is at once vulnerable and defiant. There is a level of brutal honesty that sets the duo apart from their peers. But then at the end of the day they still say, “Fuck it. Let’s get dressed up and have a party.” Such is the case with their latest track ‘Projection’ which will be included on their UK release of their debut album Ugly Cherries. The track explores singer Ben Hopkins desire to stay inside as he is exhausted from trying to fit in when he goes outside. The culmination of the track is some glorious fuzzy and mathy guitar. Empowerment never sounded so good.
PWR BTTM’s Ben Hopkins says: “‘Projection’ is a song about feeling unqualified to be the way you see yourself because of the way other people see you, and how other people’s perception of your identity can warp your sense of self. It’s about being exhausted with the pressure of fitting in and throwing a shiny, glorious middle finger to those who doubt you.”
