New album The Adventures of Selfie Boy Pt 1 is out December 9th via 1965 Records.
Living in London is an experience. It is a wonderful, chaotic, and also destructive metropolis that can change a person intrinsically and often without their complete awareness. In London, one can learn the best aspects and absolute worst aspects of themselves. Things get out of hand there. This is precisely what Raf Rundell (aka Selfie Boy, aka Raf Daddy, and one half of The 2 Bears) captures on ‘Carried Away’, the second track to be gleaned from his upcoming album The Adventures of Selfie Boy Pt 1.
Listen to ‘Carried Away’ below:
Built on a swirling piano loop and a rattling drum beat, Raf narrates a story that warns of how the city can carry one away from the people they love with its undoubted allure and seductiveness: “The city of my dreams / Pop stars and beauty queens / I got carried away / From you”. For Raf, the city is like an addiction. One that takes as much as it gives. Apparently, the track was written in a ‘dark satanic mill up north’ with Simon Dine, so it seems that Raf had to get out of the capital to get some perspective on the place.
Raf Rundell is heading out to play live and DJ sets with Black Peaches in December:
Dec 1st Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar, Brighton
Dec 2nd Start The Bus, Bristol
Dec 3rd Soup Kitchen, Manchester
Dec 4th Mono, Glasgow
Dec 8th Kamio (at the Red Gallery), London
Raf’s monthly club Ladies Night will return to London on October 29th for a Halloween special at East Bloc.
