The Spook School Share Video For ‘Burn Masculinity’

New Album Due In September Via Fortuna POP! (AKA The Best Label Ever)

Edinburgh’s premier indie pop group The Spook School have shared a video for their track ‘Burn Masculinity’. The track has also been included as part of It Came From Plan-It-Xa compilation of lo-fi indie pop and punk released by Plan-It-X Records out of Bloomington, Indiana whose motto is “If it ain’t cheap, it ain’t punk!”. It will also be part of their new album, which follows their superb debut album Dress Up.

The track sees the group continue to challenge traditional gender roles, following the prominent themes of transgenderism on their debut album. Lines like, “It (masculinity) makes you think / That you can go on insulting her / And then apologise when her boyfriend walks in”, clearly display the well founded issues that the group has with masculinity and patriarchy.

Also, if you don’t want to watch the video, you can listen to the track below.

The band are currently in America on a wee bit of a jaunt through America, where they are touring with Wildhoney.
