Last year, Cork-based post-rock/metal trio Ealadha released their debut EP Limit of our Sight. A combination of concise compositions with the nuance of post-rock and the punch of post-metal, the record posited an unusual and engrossing brand of music that thrilled, comforted, and surprised. Truly, it was one of the releases of the year.
We are absolutely thrilled and honoured to premiere the group’s first new track since that EP. Titled ‘Bathe’, the song sees the band reach hitherto unrealised heights. Recorded and mixed by Shauny Cadogan (Last Light Recordings) at Sun Studios, Temple Bar, Dublin and mastered by Magnus Lindberg of Cult of Luna fame, the track is simply more. More confident execution, more nuanced in composition, more bite when things kick off, and more delicate in the tender moments. Arresting from the first moment, the song is a masterclass in how a songwriter can create something immediate and catchy but without resorting to cliched and redundant song structures.
If this is an indication if the direction in which the band is going, I am excited. You should be excited too.
