‘Symmetry / Slow Grind’ available exclusively as a 7” single for Record Store Day 2017 via Schoolkids Records.
Pioneering soulful shoegazers The Veldt have added to the already massively exciting upcoming Record Store Day schedule by announcing the release of their ‘Symmetry / Slow Grind’ 7″ single on the 22nd April. We are absolutely chuffed to premiere their new video for the track above. Consisting of footage from old silent movies, jellyfish, and a graceful underwater dance, it is a perfect complement to the elegant and exquisite dreamgaze track.
The group, formed in the late 1980’s by the Chavis brothers, were always way ahead of their time exploring sounds that would eventually be labelled as chillwave. This can be readily heard in ‘Symmetry’ as the track explores an ambiance tinged with electronica and full shoegaze sound. After just finishing up a US tour with Phantogram, they’ll be back on the road soon with influential 4AD band Modern English. On top of this they’ve a new EP slated for June 2017 titled The Shocking Fuzz of Your Electric Fur: The Drake Equation. Note that neither ‘Symmetry’ nor ‘Slow Grind’ will feature on that EP, and can only be obtained on the RSD exclusive single.
As if that was not enough, Schoolkids Records have also announced the release of Dutch indie icons Bettie Serveet’s eleventh studio album Damage Good on Record Store Day too! Listen to this. It will be a limited edition exclusive transparent magenta LP with stunning gatefold packaging. Also including a digital download and full CD, it will be the only version of the LP or CD available in North America.
