Weird and Cool Hobbies of Famous Musicians

What do you do when you have millions of dollars? You do strange stuff. Most of the famous musicians have had a curious career and even more curious personal life — Remember Freddy Mercury’s ‘dwarves and coke’ party? Or perhaps imagine how the lover of casinos, Frank Sinatra would have turned out with the myriad of online slots available these days? There is a notion that surrounds musicians that “Musicians are weird or at least the good ones are”. It’s not necessarily true. While some of these musicians do or did have weird hobbies but most of them have or had hobbies that just doesn’t align with what they do and so, in hindsight, it’s plain and simply strange.

Just like they keep us entertained, their strange and cool hobbies keep them entertained. If you had a fat paycheck like theirs even you would jump out of a plane or have your own vineyard or maybe shop your way through sadness, but all you can do is listen to their music. But if you ever get sad about how cool their hobbies are, just think about Brian May of the Queen and go get a PhD in astrophysics, or about David Bowie and start playing chess. These hobbies are not always lavish, sometimes it’s just knitting with their wives or just cooking.

The whole fleet!” She seems to be really good at this craft of capturing Christmas spirit in a jar. Her incredible idea is not really a snow globe, they are snow jars, it just borrows the concept.

2Neil Young is a connoisseur of model trains

For Young, model trains are more than a hobby. He is a connoisseur of both the collector and operating markets. His love for model railroading probably goes back to the days when he truly started the loving music. His collection of Lionel trains included a custom painted Commodore Vanderbilt 6-4-6 locomotive which managed to fetch $10,000 in an auction last year. His entire collection fetched nearly $300,000.

3Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance) writes comic books

His prime hobbies are drawing and drinking coffee. Before my chemical romance, he was so ambitious about working in the world of comics that he even attended Manhattan’s School of Visual Arts and graduated with a bachelor degree in Fine Arts. This proves that writing comic books is more than just his hobby. Some of his comic books are— Spiderman: the edge of the Spider-verse, the umbrella academy, apocalypse suite and the true lives of fabulous killjoys.

4Celine Dion is an avid Golfer, great swimmer and shoe collector

When not performing in a concert surrounded by fans and camera, Canadian singer unwinds with golfing and swimming. She is an avid golfer, a great swimmer and has a huge collection of shoes. She says “Golf is a search for perfection, for balance. It’s about meditation and concentration. You have to use hand and brain.”

West has always been about his fascination with porn and he even admits to being inspired by porn to some degree. In his youth, he even developed a video game which was basically a porn version of Mario. He says “I think about it the same way I think about clothing, with anything: look, listen, learn, consume, create. That career choice popped into my head once or twice. But what guy doesn’t want to be that? Just sometimes in their life”. He even admitted that he had nearly released his own sex tape but decided against it because it would’ve been a hindrance to some of the work he was doing. He says he has never watched porn with the volume on. Of all those in this list, Kanye sure does top the weird list.

6Madonna is into Yoga, Reading, Writing

Still looking young in her 60’s, Madonna is a master of Zen. She started yoga to get back in shape after giving birth to her daughter and got hooked. She says “Yoga is a metaphor for life. You have to take it really slowly. You can’t rush. You can’t skip to the next position. You find yourself in very humiliating situations, but you can’t judge yourself. You just have to breathe, and let go. It is a workout for your mind, your body and your soul.” She is also an avid reader and a brilliant writer with having written several children’s book.

Not just a legendary musician, Brian Adams is also a talented and successful photographer. He has worked with many celebrities including Sting, Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Celine Dion and Michael Bublé. His work has also been published in Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue and many other magazines.
