Best new songs this week: Ob picks (24/10/25)

Musician Oxis shot by Brian Ziff

Armand Hammer // Calypso Gene (ft. Silka & Cleo Reed)
In a couple of weeks, Armand Hammer – the mercurial hip-hop partnership of billy woods and ELUCID – will team up once more with the best producer in the game, The Alchemist, for new album Mercy. Album taster ‘Calypso Gene’ sees the duo enlist the talents of LA-based soul-jazz artist Silka and New York multidisciplinary artist Cleo Reed.

Just Mustard // SILVER
Since kickstarting a new wave of Irish artists alongside the likes of Fontaines D.C. and The Murder Capital, Just Mustard have forged a path which is unmistakably their own through a fusion of warped electronics and sultry shoegaze. New album WE WERE JUST HERE is out today via Partisan Records.

Oxis // Piranha
From the moment we stumbled upon Oxis’ YouTube uploads (a treasure trove of electronically-manipulated DIY pop gems each named after a different breed of fish) we were sold. Listen to her tackle The Killers’ ubiquitous indie floorfiller via ‘Long Sardine x Mr. Brightside‘.

Cardinals // The Burning of Cork
Little nods to Nine Inch Nails‘ creeping industrial rock worm their way into Cardinals’ brooding new cut, ‘The Burning of Cork’. Forthcoming debut album Masquerade could easily find itself on the podium of 2026’s defining guitar breakthroughs.

eat-girls // Off The
French trio eat-girls combine drum machines and layered vocals to make for an otherworldly sound full of escapism. ‘Off The’ marks the band’s first release since debut album Area Silenzio arrived exactly a year ago.

Pollyfromthedirt // Darlos cowboys
Currently racking up live shows across the continent, Pollyfromthedirt squeezes a whole lot from a minimal sound palette to create vibe-heavy compositions to be filed besides Saint Jude and, elsewhere in his set, Mk.gee.
