Best new songs this week: Ob Picks (17/7/26)

music duo The Healing Power of Horses

Steve Lacy // oh yeah?
What a week it’s been for fans of alt-hip hop icons The Internet, with Steve Lacy and Syd both dropping new solo albums and, alongside founding member Matt Martians, announcing a comeback album to arrive in 2027. Lacy’s oh yeah? LP pairs melancholic love songs with a composed RnB swagger, featuring collabs with Erykah Badu, SZA, and Cecile Believe.

Arab Strap // Glamour Magick
Arab Strap Aidan Moffat satirises the cosmetic industry and an online world obsessed with beauty in trademark Arab Strap fashion, paired with a macabre video to boot.

The Healing Power of Horses // TOURNIQUET
East Anglian duo The Healing Power of Horses have shared their debut EP, Summer Indoors (or outside wearing black) with the mercurial, mechanical ‘TOURNIQUET’. The Healing Power of Horses are Britain’s most promising contribution to the disassociated indietronica scene which has platformed Water From Your Eyes, ear and Oxis in recent years.

Black Marble // Anything
Arriving with the news that Life in Small Spaces – Black Marble’s first album since 2021 – will be with us next month; new single ‘Anything’ sees Chris Stewart’s penchant for textured, stabbing synth riffs transported, Back to the Future-style, to a 1980s nightclub, and we are here for it. Roll up those blazer sleeves and preen that mullet: we’re staying up late.

Logic1000 // All In For You (ft. KUČKA)
Another album announcement, this time from Sydney-born, Berlin-based Logic1000. ‘All In For You’ is as rich in haunting melancholy as it is in danceable beatmaking. New LP Confirmation! will feature contributions from the likes of Christine and the Queens and yunè pinku.

wing! // IT LOOKS BETTER FROM A DISTANCE
wing!’s sophomore EP, (WORTH SCANNING FOR), truly showcases Adam Swan’s solo endeavour as a unique prospect in London’s musical landscape. Spacious drum breaks conspire with trip-hop sensibilities to create something otherworldly.
