Kali Uchis shares ethereal single ‘Te Mata’ with cinematic visuals

Kali Uchis releases Te Mata ahead of ORQUÍDEAS

Kali Uchis enchants listeners with this angelic, Spanish-spoken new release.

A songstress of hypnotically angelic releases, not that she needs the introduction, Kali Uchis has done it yet again with her brand-new single ‘Te Mata’. An elegant affair of poetic songwriting and whimsical visuals, ‘Te Mata’ is another nonchalant single to add to her forever-evolving discography.

The track is a special mention to the artist’s forthcoming LP, ORQUÍDEAS, which is out for release in the new year on Friday 12th January. ORQUÍDEAS is Uchis’ fourth album to date and the second Spanish-language project she’s written so far. An extensive soundtrack of 14 thought-provoking singles to get lost in, this project takes place after her critically-acclaimed 2023 album Red Moon in Vegas.

So far 2023 has been a rather successful one for the artist, with a sold-out two-part headline tour across Vegas, a festival appearances at Coachella, and her latest album charting as #4 on Billboard 200. With both hands firmly placed on the steering wheel, it’s fair to say the only way is up from here.

Working towards the release of her latest. The album artwork for ORQUÍDEAS pictures Uchis amongst freshly bloomed orchids. Writing about the meaning behind this and what to expect on her LP, Uchis says: “The orchid is the national flower of Colombia, and we have more species of orchid than anywhere on earth,” Uchis says. “I always felt distinctly intrigued and magnetized by the flower. This album is inspired by the timeless, eerie, mystic, striking, graceful and sensual allure of the orchid. With this vast scope of fresh energy, I wish to redefine the way we look at Latinas in music.”

Fans can expect collaborative features from lauded artists within the Latina scene. Including Karol GPeso PlumaRauw Aleja, Dominican dembow singer El Alfa and JT from City Girls.
