Arriving shrouded mystery, the band join a Transgressive alumni which includes Foals, Let’s Eat Grandma and Alvvays.
Although ‘Notre Dame Made Out of Flesh’ may be the first single proper from University, the British band have had a strong year on the circuit with appearances at The Great Escape, Manchester Psych Fest and End Of The Road.
Co-managed by Kwes Darko (slowthai, Sampa The Great), University conjure hints of heritage hardcore artists like Black Flag and Bad Brains, delivered with a peppering of the emo-shag stylings of Funeral Party.
The band, who describe their sound as “getting punched in the face by a gorilla but then being cuddled afterwards”, will perform at Rotterdam’s Left of the Dial festival in October before taking to the stage in Paris alongside Militarie Gun this November.
