Biig Piig has certainly made her stamp on the scene since her arrival in 2017 and 11:11 sees Jessica Smyth transition into a new chapter of her artistry, following 2023’s Bubblegum mixtape.
She is known for reinventing the wheel within her own life and her music and this album is a true testament to that. 11:11 wears its alt-pop and dance influences on its sleeve while delivering stories filled with intensity and honesty. As we all know, 11:11 are magic numbers, signifying alignment and enlightenment. Biig Piig chose this title as whenever she’d see these numbers she would think of someone she knows or take a moment to reflect.
”I feel like it’s always a nice time to take a step back, and this record has felt like that too,” Smyth’s said of the release. “It’s one big reflection on everything that’s happened the last few years.”
Each of the five singles release prior to 11:11‘s unveiling set the tone for the album with an ethereal and euphoric palette of sounds. ‘One Way Ticket’ reads as a love letter to someone who was a huge supporter in Biig Piig’s life before passing on. While ‘Toxic’ ruminates on the push and pull of an unhealthy relationship.
11:11 marks a full contemplation of Biig Piig and her life. She sings in Spanish on ‘Decimal‘, harking back to an influential period spent living in Spain. Raised in Ireland and now settled in West London via a multitude of stops along the way; 11:11 is the sound of an artist who has, however fleetingly, achieved a grounding of artistic and personal content.
Biig Piig’s UK/EU tour commences 15th February.
