Unearthing her inner monster, Doja Cat bounces back with an eerie single ‘Demons’ and officially drops Demons + Paint The Town Red EP.
For the last few months Doja Cat has been teasing us with speculations that she was going to take her music into a new and evolved direction. Expressing: “These upcoming projects are going to be very different compared to everything I have done and I am excited about that.”
Escaping her pop / R&B era as she enters a new phase of heavyweight cuts with gritty trap beats and punk sensibilities, the artist is finally putting her money where her mouth is with this new EP. Today sees the official release of Demons + Paint The Town Red and it doesn’t disappoint.
‘Demons’ is a cutting-edge release that sounds as scary as it looks. Boastfully transcending the fear in the visuals into a melodically enticing and alluring listen, this time Doja is out for blood… literally. Across the music video, the artist appears as an unsettling sleep paralysis-looking demon as she terrorises American actress Christina Ricci.
Whilst her August release ‘Paint The Town Red’ received slight backlash for it’s similarities to her previous work, ‘Demons’ certainly packs a punch and is a definitive look into the artist’s new direction.
