‘Clutching at Pearls’ is the latest single from Flynn’s forthcoming debut album Abandon All Hope.

An existential track brandished with brass and mandala, ‘Clutching at Pearls’ is the next single from Ethan P. Flynn’s upcoming debut Abandon All Hope. Capturing a sense of whimsy, the single is a story of release and letting be. It follows ‘Abandon All Hope’ and ‘Bad Weather’ as the third single before the record’s release on October 6.

“Clutching Your Pearls is centered around a mandala that I uniquely tuned myself. The song is really about letting go told through the story of a shipwrecked Doctor in the 1950s,” Flynn says of the single. “That theme is a strong aspect of this album. I was failing at perfectionism before, trying to sound chaotic while actually being very controlled. This time, I was in the studio, playing, not trying to make things perfect. That’s not what I’m meant for.”

Set in a semi-medieval pub, the self-directed music video adds to the folk feel. Tucked in the corner, Flynn is at the epicentre of his friends joyful moments as he plays his unique mandala.

The Yorkshire artist has worked with the likes of David Byrne and FKA Twigs but now the focus is on his own work as he gears up for his debut. Fresh from a tour with Snail Mail, Flynn will be on the road once again in the UK and Europe this coming Winter.
