The London four-piece have shared details of their debut record alongside a new single.
Folly Group have returned today with ‘Big Ground’, the second single off of their upcoming debut album Down There!, set for release on 12th January via So Young Records.
‘Big Ground’ is pulsating, gloomy, but jam-packed with off-kilter percussion and a very Talking Heads-inspired backbone. The track builds, evolves, leaning into the evolutionary nature of a dance track, ‘Big Ground’ never once losing momentum. The climactic outro, is a dancefloor-ready, almost Western-inspired moment; joyous whilst keeping its feet firmly planted in the darker new wave and post punk tones Folly Group have come to trademark.
“The basic concept of this song is life filling you with so much anxiety and dread that you would rather you didn’t exist at all – you’d rather be swallowed by the ground,’ Guitarist/vocalist Louis Milburn says. “In a way it’s sort of celebrating this fact, because once you know this deep down inside you can start to let go of these anxieties because after a while you face so many that they start to matter less.”
